What a great month we have had, the great run of weather saw our guides out every day. Glass out conditions daily made for some great fishing and with whales now in the bay the wildlife and scenery has been world class. Snapper were the main target for many with numbers down a little this year, it made landing a good size snapper just that little bit more special.

Tim with a solid snapper.

Longtail tuna have been about deep around the yakka schools, fish over the 130 cm mark have been landed and make for some great sport. Anglers certainly get tested against the big longtails with plenty of patience required to land them. A few big cobia put in an appearance which were mostly hooked deep while targeting snapper or trevally. Mackerel species like school, grey and spanish have been about with a fairly reasonable run of school mackerel in mid July. The trevally species were also about with bludger, goldens, diamond, tea leaf, gold spot and others caught through the month. Other captures were big cod, coral trout, kingfish queenfish, flathead and more.

The past month the water temps have not dropped much at all. Hovering around 20 c in the central bay the days of sub 19-degree water seem to be a thing of the past. This has made the snapper season a little hard to predict, the next month and into September we should continue to see snapper, along with species like longtail tuna, mac tuna, mackerel and golden trevally.

Coral trout to brighten the day up, nice one Grant!

Spring Season
It's almost here ! Our migration of black marlin will be here before we know it, along with other speedsters like spotted mackerel, mac tuna and longtail tuna. If you haven't booked yet get in early for some spring time sport fishing. We also still have slots left over the September school holiday period which is always popular with the kids. Drop us an email for rates and dates

Flats Black the ultimate challenge.

Spotted mackerel will be balling up bait soon.

Catch Of The Month
Brereton and Ben with this weeks catch of the month a big cod which was caught and released. A big specimen estimated over 40 kg.

Solid effort on light tackle.
