With the new moon on Saturday the fishing shouldimprove with the bigger tides hopefully stir up the water and fishing action. Sunday morning incoming tide looks like the go for whiting off the beaches or a snapper off the reef. Fishing reports coming into the shop this weekhave mainly been the winter whiting off Dundowran and Toogoom. Just look forboats fishing close together or drift until you find a school. Again the Berkley gulp plasticworms have been selling well with new stock in store now. Summerwhiting have been taken off the beach at Dundowran at night on live yabbiesand also on the flats around Round and Woody island at night on the run uptide. From experience the bigger fish will only feed for that half hourbefore the turn of the tide. Bream are still around in good numbers at RiverHeads boat ramp, the rock wall at the harbour and off the pier. The bream should really fire up at night with the new moon andrun in tides. Use mullet gut or fillets along with a good burly trail. Flatheadare on the chew with good fish coming from around the ledges at
McKenzie’sjetty which is just south of Kingfisher bay. Nimbi ledge is also fishing wellfor big flatties.

Soft plastics in the pearl andclear colours are very effective in the clear water. Remember there is amaximum size limit of 70cms on these fish and
there are some green zones betweenKingfisher and Bogimbah ledge so check your greenzone map or grab a copy from our store. Quality snapper up the top of Fraser island aroundRoonies and Wathumba area on live baits but in close around the Arty thesnapper are still shying off the baits so some fisho’s have started driftingthe area jigging Soft plastics with instant success. Local squid up in the shallows around the Picnic Islands, the top of woody and RoundIsland on the run out.Pink or orange jigs are working well. The tailor season should start to fire up onFraser island over this new moon as there have been big schools of tailoraround the Noosa area. A big few tailor have beencaught on the troll at Burrum heads between the to boat ramps.

In close spotty mackerel around the 3-4kgmark and big cobia up to 20kg. While at anchor good size scarlets, sweetlipand snapper. Wider out the main catch has been pearl perch, parrot, Mosesperch and sweetlip.

Freshwater Report.
Reports of bass mainly this timeof year but a barra is still a possibility if you put in the hours and lookfor the slightest change in water temperature. You will need to locate theschools of bass using a sounder then try jigging ice jigs or a well presentedsoft plastic such as a black and gold Squidgy fish.

Fishing Report from Local Guide, Mark “Bargy” Bargenquast .
More westerly winds for this week and into the weekend, possibly easing to the 10 knots Sunday. Some nice snapper are throughout the bay with some nice fish taken at Wathumba last weekend. Best baits are pillies and fresh mullet. Some nice lizards are about the bay with fish over 90cm. Best lures have been Squidgy slick rigs in 80mm and hard bodies like Rapala x-raps, shallow bombers and rebels. Whiting are schooling up around the bay in usual places and Berkley gulp worms in bloodworm
colour work well.

The river is fishing slowly with the whiting still yet to come, big summeries
around the 35-40cm mark. I can't wait. The big tides this weekend will dirty the water so the fishing should improve on the new moon, low tides around 4 or 5 o'clock. We caught some good bream on plastics through the week and one client from Melbourne landed two flathead over 80cm in two casts. If you would like to book a trip with Bargy just give him a ring on 0427 230 261.
