If you can escape the raging south east winds by heading down the rivers and creeks you may be rewarded with a kilo or two of prawns. All of the river systems from the Burrum to the Mary and Susan rivers are rewarding anglers with prawns. The mud crabs seem to be on the chew in these areas as well.

Whiting can still be caught around the beacons and beach at Toogoom, Dundowran Beach, Shelley Beach and the pier. Some of these have been of ordinary size though, so please do watch your size limits (Summer whiting 23cm).

If the wind dies down later in the week it would be worth your while heading out to the artificial reef for a catch of grass sweetlip, cod and blackall. You may even pick up a trout or two using live bait.
