Report Thur 22nd June 06

Post by Brad » Fri Jun 23, 2006 4:49 am

The wet and windy conditions that have faced us in the past week have deterred boaties so reports have been few and far between. Bream have been coming on the bite with the colder conditions coming through. The pier is a great spot, as well as the rock wall at Urangan Harbour. Mullet or fowl gut, hardiheads or small soft plastics have been the best baits.

Snapper can be found at the Arti if you can get out. Pillies are the go there.
Winter whiting are still around in small schools out from Dundowran Beach and Gatakers Bay. They have been getting a few at the NU2 beacon as well.

Ray has taken a week off and has rung through with this week's Fraser Island report.

Take care fishing he says, the blue bottles are in numbers over there at the moment, and unfortunately so is the weed, with anything from Happy Valley south chock-a-block.

It’s wet, it’s windy and apparently there’s a lot of wood on the beach. Driftwood, from god knows where, has turned up along the beaches.
Tarwhine, dart and tailor are getting caught north of Cathedral Beach and whiting are biting at low tide. Beach travel is only possible from about half tide and below.
