Report 11/11/16

Post by subeditor » Fri Nov 11, 2016 1:34 pm

October saw some great fishing, patchy at times but when it all came together some great fish were landed. Guests enjoyed a range of species from bottom fish like sweetlip, scarlets and cod right through to cobia, giant herring, golden trevally and black marlin.
Earlier in the month good longtails were about on the surface with the mac tuna. Long tail tuna are a little harder to find then mac tuna this time of year, but when conditions suited we found some nice specimens. Cobia are also about at this time of year and sometimes pop up where you least expect them. Rob and Chris from Sydney had some big ones around 80lb start fighting over one of their big mac tuna, it was certainly a great spectacle.

A few firsts for our new vessel “Deceiver” this month with Matt Baxter landing the first Black Marlin out of her. He also scored a new boat record for biggest cobia. Both fish came in on an epic day and Matt backed up his first small black marlin up 10 mins later with another one. Top effort mate, some great memories for both angler and guide.
The next month or two see’s us guiding guests from all parts of the globe looking to target black marlin along with our other pelagic species on both lure and fly. Hopefully the season ahead will be another good one.
We are also taking bookings for the 2017 season with the first 5 months or so always a hit with anglers looking at targeting some longtail tuna and other speedsters on the bait balls. If you are interested in some sportfishing action next year please send us a email for rates and dates as our 2017 calendar is filling fast
