Winter whiting are still being caught in good numbers between point Vernon and Burrum Heads. Drift to find the schools, then anchor and berley up, is a good technique. Summer whiting have been reported down at Shelly Beach on the start of the ebb tide. Live yabbies are taking the better quality fish.

The pier is producing bream at night floating baits amongst the pylons. There are also whiting and flathead in the first channel. Live baiting at the end of the pier early morning is the go for tuna and mackerel.

With the weather being superb for the weekend you could try for a snapper on the Artificial Reef or even further out towards Arch Cliffs.

A gutters trip would also be worth considering.

Good sized tailor and flathead are in most of the gutters along the beach. Whiting and dart are of great size, especially around Waddy Point.

Beach and inland track travel is great due to the rain that has been falling over the past week.
