Report Thur 20th July 06

This weekend looks like the perfect opportunity to do some long awaited maintenance on boats rods and reels. The southeast winds will be raging, keeping most boaties fishing the rivers and creeks.

Flathead, bream and jew would be a chance around River Heads if you’re keen. Live baits; prawn, mullet or fowl gut being the best baits.
Another hidey-hole would be O’regans Creek. You can walk this creek quite a way upstream, and it lends itself to some great deep holes for a flathead or estuary cod. You may even pick up an elusive mangrove jack as well! Soft plastics work well. Come in and ask Brock about some of the better colours that seem to produce more fish. Just watch the tides as they can sneak up on you, meaning you could be wading your way back to the mouth!

The strong winds and scattered showers have hampered fishing for the past couple of days, although before that the reports of tailor, bream and whiting were good. Flathead had been also co-operating, and been of reasonable size. The weed is minimal to non-existent so if the weather improves, so should the fishing.
