Well, the weather has turned on us again and this weekend's not looking too good. With 20 knots plus forecast, I don't think there will be too much offshore fishing done.

The river has been fishing great down around the mouth with some good mackerel being caught, with most being school mackerel. A few small Spanish have been mixed in with them but you do have to watch the size as the minimum size for schoolies is 50cm, and the Spanish is 75cm. The Spanish also has a bag limit of three per person.

There have also been a few tailor in there, as well as trevally and queenfish. Trolling lures has been a preferred method with Flasha lures being a hot favourite for the tailor and mackerel.

There's still a good number of winter whiting about out around the leads of the river mouth. Back up the river the bream are still there and the flathead are everywhere. Soft plastics and small diving lures such as the Mann’s range have been the hot ones. For the live baiters, some good grunter, jew and salmon have been caught in the deeper holes.

Monduran has been fishing well but only in the shallows. Gary was up there earlier in the week and landed two and lost two on shallow diving lures fished around the rocky points. Tropic Anglers and Reidy’s B52s were the favourites.

Best breezes,
