Report Wed 27th Sept 06

Post by Brad » Thu Sep 28, 2006 6:06 am

Well, the weeks just keep passing us by, but a run of good weather last weekend saw a lot of boats head offshore and most were well rewarded with good snapper, reds, trout, big black king and parrot.

My neighbours, Corey and Geoff Hay, did a trip with Peter Stevens on Sportfish 1770 and had a great day on the water, landing some good reds, hussar, parrot and Maori cod. Corey also landed a 12kg yellowtail kingfish - an excellent catch.

The inshore reefs have produced some good snapper, red jew and grunter, as well as some good school mackerel. There's still plenty of whiting, bream and flathead about in the rivers with the odd grunter and salmon in there as well.

The barra are still on the chew up at Monduran. Gary managed to land five up to 90cm last weekend. Karl Oberhart and Jason Cox followed Gary about and managed to hook several, with one of Jason's a corker at 106cm. B52's and Tropic Anglers produced these excellent results.

Just a reminder that the reef fins fish closures are due to start, with the first being on October 6th to October 24th, where you will NOT be able to take reef fish at all.

Best breezes,
