Well, the weeks keep passing us by and we're now into our first lot of Coral Reef Fin Fish closures for the year. This closure is from 16th to 24th October, and then we have two more before the end of the year. The next ones are from 14th to 22nd November, then again from 14th to 22nd December. These closures are in all east coast waters north of Latitude 24?50's.

So, this weekend is out for reef fishing. Most of the fishing will be done inshore and in the rivers and dams.

The fishing has been really good lately. The inshore grounds have been producing some good mackerel with all the species being caught, including school, spotted, Spanish and grey. Pillies and gar have been the favourite baits, and chrome lures have also been working a treat.

In the rivers the fishing has also been great. The bream are still in good numbers and of good quantity for so late in the season. There are also plenty of good flathead and whiting about. A few reports on grunter, salmon and big jacks have been coming in also.

Crabs have been very slow but a few prawns have been on the move.

The dams have produced some good bass fishing on surface lures and plastics and the barra are fired up in the shallows. Most anglers are catching four to five barra a trip and Bombers, B52's and Tropic Anglers are the favourites.

Best breezes,
