Report Wed 15th Nov 06

Well, the weather has put a damper on the offshore fishing this week due to the 20-25 knot northerly winds, rain and storms. This also slowed down the rivers as northerlies usually shut down most fishing.

Earlier in the week the rivers fished well for whiting, bream, cod and the odd jack. Most of these were caught fishing with live baits.

One thing the northerlies are good for is barra in the dams. Heaps of barra have been caught during the past few weeks with the biggest reported being 121.5cm long. This was caught trolling deep diving lures around the main basin of Monduran. As for casting, using small 4-5 inch lures that dive to 10-15 feet and working the timber lines in 15-20 feet of water has been working. A lot of barra have also been taken on soft plastics with the Squidgy Slick Rigs being a hot favourite.

There has been not much action anywhere with the weather the way it is, but hopefully things will change and we can toss a line in next week.

Best breezes,
