Report Wed 13th Dec 06

13/12/06
The wind finally backed off late in the week, but this was too late as the Coral Reef Fin Fish closure has started again. The closure will be on from 14th to 22nd December, which means it re-opens just in time for Christmas.

Due to the strong winds earlier in the week no one headed offshore, so all the fishing has been done in the rivers and dams. The rivers have produced some top quality fish such as big cod, jack and fingermark, which have all been caught on livies. There has still been some good numbers of bream and flathead about also.

The dams have come up with some top bass fishing. Trolling small lures such as the Bass Vipers and casting Spinnerbaits to the weed edges has proved to be the best options during the heat of the day.

The barra are still on the chew. Some big fish have been caught this week with a 117cm one being the biggest, and some 110cm and 105cm also reported. Trolling deep divers such as Barra Classics in 15+ and casting small to medium 10+ divers around the timbers has produced a fair share of smaller fish around the 75-80cm mark.

Best breezes,
