Report Wed 27th Dec 06

Well, Christmas has come and gone for another year, and the New Year is looming. The team at Tackle World Bundaberg would like to extend best wishes for 2007.

On the fishing side of things, it hasn't been too bad in the rivers but the offshore fishing has been very limited due to the strong winds. The rivers have produced some
good quality fish, including some very big cod, jacks and the odd fingermark. These have been caught by live-baiting the deeper holes. Some big flathead and bream have also been caught in good numbers along the mud banks.

Around the river mouths there has been some good sized school mackerel. Trolling pillies or spoon lures has been the best method. There's also been a few trevally
and queenfish about as well. Small soft plastics and poppers have been the lures to use. There have been a few crabs about the rivers and creeks as well.

The bass have been about and on the chew in the dams. Jackalls and Spinnerbaits have been favourites, fished along the weed edges.

There's been a good number of barra caught up at Monduran during this past week, with the best reported at 111cm. This was caught by trolling a Barra Classic 120. A
lot of other barra have fallen to this method. Those anglers casting soft plastics and shallow runners in the bays have been rewarded with barra to 80cm.

Best breezes,
Tim Mulhall
