Report Thur 4th Jan 07

Well, we hope you all had a happy New Year and we can only hope we get better fishing weather in 2007. The past week has again seen some ordinary weather for offshore fishing. With 20+ knots blowing for most of it, no one could head offshore.

The river and creeks have been the main focus during the strong winds and some good reports have come in. Some big jack and fingermark have been caught by live baiting
and trolling lures in the deeper holes. Those anglers who have been soaking baits have also been well rewarded with some big grunter, bream, whiting and some very big
flathead. There's been reports of some good crabs getting about also.

The dams have also produced some good bass and barra fishing and this is always a good windy weather option. The barra in Monduran have mainly been caught by trolling
deep divers in the main basin of the dam, as well as in the natural creek beds heading up the dam.

The bass have been fairly active also. Trolling small lures such as Bass Vipers or casting plastics, Spinnerbaits and Jackalls around the weed edges have been the go. If you're keen, try an early morning start and catch a few on surface poppers. The small poppers
seem to be the go with favourites being the Owner Gobo Pop and the Zippin Ziggy.

Best breezes,
