Report 16th Nov 05

With the forecast telling us that the winds are dropping over the next few days, the fishing is looking good for the weekend.

There have been a few reports of whiting starting to show up in the rivers, as well as large flathead, with the Squidgy soft plastic range being the most successful lure option.

With the fresh from the rain combined with the full moon this week, the mud crabs should be firing. The fresh is also kick-starting the prawns, which means the salmon should soon follow.

Mac tuna have been cruising along out the front, and using a Halco chrome Twisty should show some success with these guys, while Flasha lures have shown excellent results with mackerel.

Trevor Jones landed a 89.5cm red emperor, weighing in at 10.75kg when he was fishing at Round Hill last week. (Pictured)

Monduran has been fishing well as John Hutton discovered on Tuesday by landing a one-metre-plus barra by himself. A great effort! Another barra over the metre mark was caught at the dam on Saturday as well. There are some huge fish being taken from Monduran these days.

Don't forget - Monday, 21st November is when fishing guru Steve Starling will be presenting "Squidgy Secrets Revealed" at 7.00pm at the Across the Waves Sportsground Clubhouse. Come along and learn all you ever wanted to know about soft plastics. Entry is by way of a gold coin donation to the Volunteer Marine Rescue. Drop into Salty's for more information or to pick up a flyer.
