Bream seem to be around in big numbers at the moment and are of excellent quality with some reaching 40cm in length and weighing about a kilo. Drifting baits along the rock bars with as light a weight as possible should show results. Peeled prawns have been a big hit. The guys throwing soft plastics about have also been well rewarded with some monster bream and flathead, and a few lucky ones have also snared a few jacks.

Around the sand flats there have been some good catches of whiting - summer and northerns, but you do have to keep an eye on the size limits.

There's still been some mackerel around the river mouths. Some big schoolies have been taken by trolling pillies about. Lures have also been working well. Halco Laser Pro 120's have been a good lure.

Barra are still on the bite at Monduran. Trolling diving lures such as Barra Classics is the method that has been doing really well. Some fish have exceeded the metre mark. The key is to find the bait balls and troll as slowly as you can around the bait balls as the barra won't be far away from an easy meal. Run your lures a long way back to get them to their best working depth, and hang on!

Best breezes,
