Weekly Report 2 Dec 11

Post by Brad » Fri Dec 02, 2011 6:53 am

Well, the fishing around Bundaberg at the moment is still red hot with both river and offshore. Offshore, when the weather permits, there has been some big red emperor, coral trout, cod, sweetlip and big parrot. Some cobia and the odd spanish mackerel have been caught also. The inshore reefs such as the Cochrane Artificial Reef have been producing some grunter and some small snapper - please be aware of the new snapper regulations,

The local rivers are still producing some red hot fishing. There is a good mix of northern species being caught such as salmon (king and blue), jacks and some big fingermark. Live baits and lures have been doing the trick. There has been some big grunter caught during the early part of the week as well as a good mix of bream, whiting and flathead.

Lake Monduran is starting to come good with some red hot barra action, although they are not big barra. They range from 45cm to 80cm and are great fun on light gear. Most of the barra have been caught in the back of the bays, around small weed beds and spindly timber with Squidgy Slick Rigs and Rapala Xraps being the gun lures.
