Report Wed 8th Mar 06

Post by Brad » Wed Mar 08, 2006 9:09 pm

Over the past week we've had all types of weather, from 40 knot winds to rain, hot muggy days and back to rain again. But hey, we can't complain about the rain. We need it bad.

The fishing is on the improve and the river is fishing really well for big bream, whiting and flathead. We have been having a ball on the big bream on soft plastics, and 20-30 bream for a session has not been uncommon.

Of late there have been a few tailor about - not in big numbers yet, but enough for a feed. Trolling spoons and minnow style lures has produced well. There has been the odd mackerel mixed in with them, so a light wire trace may be needed.

There are a small number of prawns on the move, as well as the odd mud crab.

The reefs have fished well over the past few days with good numbers of big grass sweetlip, nannygai, a few small reds, coral trout and some big parrot. There's also still good numbers of big black king and Spanish mackerel.

This Sunday is the Bass Pro Electric Series out at the Isis Impoundment (Lake Gregory). For those who want to check this out and see what it's all about, weigh-in is dead on 1.00pm on Sunday, so drop in and take a look.

Best breezes,
Tim Mulhall
