Weekly Report 30 Aug 12

Post by Brad » Thu Aug 30, 2012 6:40 pm

Well, the weather around the Bundaberg region has been almost perfect for the past week or so. The offshore guys have been able to get out amongst a few and some top reefies have been caught. There were some monster reds taken with some going 10kg plus in weight and a cracker going to 16kg being reported. Plenty of coral trout, sweetlip, parrot and a good mix of the usual reefies were caught, as well as some big cobia and spanish mackerel. The local estuaries have also produced some red hot fishing sessions. Heaps of big bream are still about on plastics and blades.

Some monster flathead have been taken from around the sand flats. Some of the rock walls are holding some jacks and salmon with blades being a favoured method to catch a feed. The local river mouths have been producing large amounts of lure fishing action, on species such as trevally, tailor, mackerel and queenfish. Soft plastics, chromies and slugs have been the favourite lures, with a fast retrieve being the best.
Till next time,
Tim Mulhall
