Weekly Report 13 Sep 12

Well the weeks just keep passing us by, but the fishing has still been great with most of the rivers producing some red hot fishing sessions. There still has been a good number of big bream about. The lure guys are having a ball catching the big bream on blades and soft plastics. Bait fishers are catching them mainly on mullet fillets and chook gut.

There is plenty of flathead and both blue and king salmon about. The salmon are starting to move about with most now being caught down around Fiarmead on the Burnett. Live poddy mullet or prawns have been good baits but a lot have been caught on blade lures. Winter whiting are still about from Burnett Heads to Woodgate. They can be patchy but when you find them, they are good quality. Squid, worms and yabbies have been best baits.

The offshore has been limited because of weather, so let us hope it won’t stay bad for too long. Lake Gregory (Isis) has been producing some great bass fishing with plenty from 40 to 50cm with most being caught on Jackall blades and jackal TN60 lures. As the weather warms up, most fish will be taken around the weed edges.
Good fishing, and be safe on the water,
Brett Robinson
