Weekly Report 15 Nov 12

Post by Brad » Thu Nov 15, 2012 7:56 pm

The weather for offshore fishing along the coast near Bundaberg has been poor of late, and along with the current Coral Reef Fin Fish closure, this has meant no offshore fishing for the past week. Luckily the creeks and rivers have been fishing well. The Baffle has been producing some great jack fishing along with some big flathead, grunter and the odd salmon. The Elliott River is producing some beaut whiting on the evening tides on beach worms.

The Burnett River has also been fishing well with good scores of big bream still about, as well as flathead, cod, jack and some blue salmon all being caught. Blades and Tranzams have been the best lures. Live baits such as poddy mullet and prawns have been the top live baits. A few whiting and sicklefish have also been caught on yabbies. There are a few mud crabs starting to move about, but be very careful when measuring them as a few have been just under-size.

The Isis Impoundment (Lake Gregory) has been producing a red hot bass bite, especially on surface early morning on poppers and then by running Jackall TN60s along the weed edges.

Lake Monduran is still fishing well with good numbers of barra being caught all round the dam with most in the 50cm to 70cm sizes. Just means using smaller lures such as Jackall Squirrels and Maria Twitches.
Till next time,
Tim Mulhall
