Weekly Report 8 Aug 13

Post by Brad » Fri Aug 09, 2013 8:55 am

Well, the past week has almost been perfect weather around the Bundaberg area, with a lot of big boats heading offshore and making the most of the flat calm waters. The fishing out wide has been a little tough because of the south-west winds and cold water temperatures, but those who put in the effort and fished about caught some good quality fish. Snapper, trout and sweetlip made up most catches as well as parrot, hussar and even some cobia and spanish mackerel were all caught.

The inshore reefs were hard to fish as well. Again, time and effort saw a few snapper and grunter caught. The local rivers are still fishing well. Bream still seem to be the most talked-about species. They seem to be big and everywhere. Whiting and flathead are in reasonable numbers as well. There has been a few jack starting to move about - live-baiting the deeper holes seems to be the trick. Blue and king salmon are also about in reasonable numbers with Blade lures and Jackall Tranzams being hot favourites lures.
Until next time,
Happy fishing,
Tim Mulhall
