Weekly Report 02 Jan 14

Hopefully everyone has had a very Merry Christmas and with a bit of luck, Santa has brought you all a new fishing rod because the fishing has been great. Earlier in the week there was an opportunity to head offshore, and the fish were on the chew! Out wide, big trout and red emperor were the main species. The gutters produced trout, parrot and monster grass sweetlip. Most of the areas also produced Spanish mackerel by trolling big lures. The local rivers and creeks are still fishing well with a few schoolie mackerel around the mouths.

The rock walls are producing cod, jack, flathead and bream. The sand bars and flats are still holding good numbers of whiting, mainly on the start of a making tide. Some of the deeper holes are still producing jew, jack, fingermark and some big king salmon by live-baiting with prawns or using Jackall Tranzam lures. There has been a run of mud crabs getting about and also a good number of small river prawns if you're looking for a feed.
