Well, Easter has come and gone as did the school holidays and we hope you enjoyed your break. As you could imagine, there were plenty of boats on the water over the break and it was hard to find a spot to camp along river banks as well.

Most threw a few crab pots in and scored a feed of mud crabs. A few took cast nets and bagged a feed of prawns, but the fishing was great with plenty of people catching their bag of flathead. Other species included big bream, whiting, cod and a good mix of other species as well.

Reef fishing was a little slow due to a bit of wind. Around the river mouths there has also been a good mixed bag with tuna, mackerel, sharks, some excellent tailor, queenfish and trevally.

The rocky headlands have produced squire, red jew, sweetlip and a few tailor and mackerel.

There are still some good barra coming out of Monduran, mostly out of the shallows on Barra Classics and Tropic Angler lures.

Best breezes,
Tim Mulhall
