Report 3/7/15

Post by subeditor » Fri Jul 03, 2015 2:17 pm

Well, the offshore forecast for this weekend is not looking too good for the Bundaberg area, so you’ll have to concentrate on fishing the creeks and rivers.

Last weekend’s VMR Bundaberg Family Fishing Classic saw some quality fish caught with most species being in good numbers, and the good fishing still continues.

Baffle Creek and the Kolan River have been producing some grunter, big bream and a few tailor around the river and creek mouths. An odd jack and a few blue salmon have been caught upstream.

The old Burnett is still producing some red hot fishing, with most of the rock walls producing good numbers of big bream, mainly on the run-in tides. Some of the deeper holes throughout the river have been producing some big grunter, cod and blue salmon with most being caught on prawn bait or Blade lures fished hard on the bottom.

Upstream there has been good numbers of flathead and sand whiting along most of the sand bars.

There is a run of mud crabs throughout most of the rivers. The bodies are full but the claws are a bit light on. In another few weeks they should be good.

Lake Monduran has been a bit quiet due to the constant strong winds but those doing the hard yards have caught barra.

Lake Gregory is still fishing well for bass. At this time of the year the bass are schooled up in the middle of the lake and can easily be caught on soft plastics or Blade-style lures.

Till next time,
