Report Wed 28th June 06

28/6/06
Once again the weather has had its ups and downs but it should come good for this weekend. The strong winds earlier this week meant that no one could go offshore, so most of the fishing has been done in close or in the rivers and dams.

The barra in the dams have been a bit of a hot topic this week with a few guys catching two to five barra a day by casting shallow divers in the back of the shallow bays. A few big bass up to 51cm long have also come out of Monduran.

In the salt, the bream and flathead are in big numbers still with most chasing them on soft plastics. Some salmon, grunter and the odd big jack have also been caught by live-baiting around the rocks and bridges.

The winter whiting have been about in good numbers around the river mouth, with squid being a favourite bait. Also down at the river mouth there are still a few tailor and small school mackerel.

Best breezes,
Tim Mulhall
