Weekly Report 26 Sep 07

Guess who went fishing last Sunday rather than Saturday? At least I wasn't the only one blown home early. The inshore water in Keppel Bay is clearing nicely at last. There were heaps of triers at Bangalee on Saturday - imagine they must have been catching a few. The next month will be prime time for inshore mackos, so better make the best of it.

There are reports of a few decent barra in the Fitzroy River, mainly from the cut-through down. Warm days are keeping the water temperature just high enough to entice the barra to bite and things should only improve from here on. There are still some Blue threadies hanging around and those in the know are nailing them off the shore along the coast on silver metal lures . The fish are of top quality this season and I know of quite a few over the old 10lb mark. There have been some quality whiting on some of the coastal beaches, but you'll need to beat our indigenous netters to them. What they are doing is just plain criminal.

Most found a feed of reefies around the Keppel's when the weather permitted and out wider the usual big reds were on offer. You gotta love Spring. Good luck.
