Weekly Report 27 June 08

I've been working in the big smoke most of the past week, so can't really
pass on too much intell on what's been caught locally. Weather forecast for the weekend isn't real flash. Sunday might be half reasonable. especially in the afternoon. Flathead numbers seem to be increasing in the estuaries. I caught a few nice ones last weekend just by working the holes on foot on the dropping tide. There are still no reports of Doggies in the bay, but there is no bait showing up inshore yet either. I'm sure the two are linked. Good news from North Qld is that there are large schools of top shelf Spotties on their way south. So sharpen your hooks and get ready for late August when they should start arriving in our patch. A few Blue threadies are being caught here and there, but no real schools as yet. Hopefully they're just running late too. Could be a small widow of opportunity to get outside early in the week for those able. So try the creeks for a lizard or two and top your bag up with a few bream as you go.
