Good news and bad news this week.............
The Doggies finally showed up, but now the wind is howling. Never mind, it looks like the gale might be fairly short lived. Give it a couple of days to settle down and the water to clear up a bit and the mackos should be back on the chew. They were close in along the coast, even off the Rosslyn Bay Harbour wall. The average size was good at around 600mm. Most seemed to prefer bait, but odd ones were taking a lure. There are also decent schools of Watson's bonito with them, so the Spano fishers are gearing up to get their year's bait supply.

There have also been schools of Blue threadfin here and there, but the netters are giving them a hiding as soon as they show up. The water in the Fitzroy is warming up well and the barra are starting to move around. A few decent fish have been caught near Rocky lately. Reef fishing has been very ordinary for some reason, even way out wide. Hopefully this is only a temporary downturn and things will improve during October. The beaches have also been quiet, with few whiting and dart being caught.
Maybe next week?
