Weekly Report 28 Mar 11

Unfortunately it looks like a series of big high pressure systems is about to settle in south of the continent. You know what that means? Wind, and lots of it. The week just gone saw quite a few days of near perfect weather. Lots of boats ventured offshore and most seemed to come home with a decent feed. There were pan-sized reefies on offer around the Keppels and good grunter and Black jew after dark up north. Out wide the usual reds kept most parties happy. There were a few Doggie macks around the Keppels, but they were pretty skittish and hard to get to bite. Apparently the good spanos were out really wide, but once you found them, they were keen to take a bait.

The estuaries fished fairly well for mixed bags and quite a few barra are still being caught in Coorooman and Corio. Crabs are in reasonable numbers and if you work hard, you should be taking home a decent feed. The Fitzroy River is back in minor flood mode, but surprisingly, the barra still biting and have been taking lures in the dirty water - go figure. Maybe things will change for the better by the end of the week, but it's not looking too promising I have to say.
