Weekly Report 22 Jul 11

The weekend weather isn't looking too flash for heading offshore yet again. Bummer!! Where are those massive high pressure systems coming from this time of year? Must be global something or other for sure. At least the offshore winds have allowed the inshore water to clear up, so beach fishing is back on the agenda. Try any of the local beaches for whiting, although the day tides are very small. I haven't heard of any dart being caught for ages, but it could be worth a try up the northern end of Farnborough Breach and definitely Nine Mile Beach.

I've managed to get Fitzroy Water to fix the barrage gate operating system, so we shouldn't be seeing weekly massive water releases any more thank goodness. That will see the salt start pushing back up river under the surface fresh and fish moving up with it. Perhaps we might fluke an late afternoon fish around the Keppels on Sunday and Monday if the low off NSW weakens and moves towards NZ. Try the deeper reefs for lipper and assorted reefies. There have been a few Blue salmon going in and out of the Rosslyn Bay Harbour, but it's a bit hit and miss. Best time is after dark when the boat traffic settles down. Also worth a try on the last of the run out in Waterpark and Coorooman Creeks. Good luck!
