Weekly Report 26 Aug 11

Post by Brad » Fri Aug 26, 2011 7:28 am

No surprises that there is nothing to report in terms of anything being caught lately. The predicted strong winds arrived early in the week just gone and haven't stopped since. Now some rain is happening on the back end of the blow. Lucky the rugby league is getting down to the pointy end eh? If the wind drops out as the week progresses and you don't have a day job, it could be worth a poke outside. With the dark moon on Monday come the huge night tides of course. Later in the week will be the best chance of a spano up north. They were there just prior to the blow and just might be hungry.

Inshore the water is very dirty and won't clear quickly. The estuaries should fire up towards the end of the week and I'd be looking for threadfin in the upper reaches. Similarly, the Fitzroy River will be the place to try later in the week. Barra are in numbers and of good size in the city reach. There are still a few team spots left in the Rocky Barra Bounty in mid September, but you'd better get in quick.
