Howdy once again to all the friendly and respectful fishers and boaties visiting or living at Stanage. Friendly - meaning no ramprage and if someone is pulled over to the side of the road, stopping to see if they are ok. Respectful - meaning to the area as a whole and treating others how you or your family expect to be treated. It is sad to hear of visitors to the area dumping their rubbish on the side of the road, this includes trailer loads of glass at several pit stop areas, from the start of the Stanage road to the boat ramp. Who is going to pick it up?
Respectful also means with the bag limits and legal sizes (yeah we know, some species don’t grow to the legal size (reef cod) and some legal sizes should be bigger eg; grassy sweetlip!) The Stanage road gang have been wonderful in upgrading the unsealed dirt to highway specs. Good job boys, slow but the finished product is great. I think the council should give you a luxury motor home so you spend less time travelling to and from your accommodation daily.
The Fishing since the last report has as per usual been hot and cold. The boats who have stayed out and fished both tides have done extremely well, whilst the fishers who fly out and back, because they are scared of our boat ramp, are on the lower to nil end of the catch rate. The Oasis boys as per usual, from what I have seen and heard have had the best catch rates while the Pacific Villa families are having a great time out and enjoying their catches.
Fish from 11kg Red Emperor to tuskies on steroids to grunter are all a big hit.
The estuary has still been producing salmon with the muddies just about extinct with dots of 2kg plus muddies still around potting with the good pots and best fresh bait.
Pop in and see me at the tackle shop in the boat yard to give yourself the best odds and do the right thing and shop local, we are not expensive.
