We've been enjoying great weather and fantastic fishing.

Offshore anglers are getting into the nannygai and coral trout. Slow pitch jigging is becoming a more popular way to target bottom fish, with centre balanced jigs around 40-60g producing the goods. The most popular ones of late have been the Todd Explorer and Zetz jigs. Lately they've been picking up some really good cobia as well.

There are plenty of mackerel around as well. All you need are a few days with a light northeasterly, and they come into the bay. There's lots of bait for them to feed on.

The river is absolutely full of little 3" mullet, being preyed upon by lots of grunter and threadfin all the way up the river right into the town reach.

We're seeing a good run of mud crab as well. Corio Bay north of Yeppoon is fishing particularly well for muddies, along with flathead, blue salmon, king threadfin salmon, queenfish and grunter.

Out in Callide Dam, anglers have been getting good catches of barra, with some blokes picking up 10-12 each. Callide is a better bet than Awoonga at this stage.
