Report 22/12/16

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Dec 23, 2016 4:06 pm

This past month has proven to be very successful, with the Stanage Bay Road improvements finished by the Livingstone Shire Council, boats of all sizes are travelling with ease to their next fishing frontier.

The Australian Defence Force has thrown the people of Stanage Bay a curve ball with the purchase, and future targeted purchase, of Stanage Bay Road cattle properties; including one on the Western side of the Herbert Creek/River. Like I’ve said in past reports; explore now, for you never know if it’s going to be available in the future.

The estuary, Thirsty Sound, is turning on the jew, cod and grunter with a scattering of the mighty mud crabs. The islands and reef have been good catching for the big grassy sweet lip in quite abundance, with the coral trout, red emperor, red nannygai and parrotfish are all being caught on the usual; squid, pilchards, mullet fillets and Prawn – all purchased with a smile, local info or a joke at Stanage Bay Marine & accommodation.

The Tackle shop is well stocked with added camping supplies, ice, and all your tackle needs at competitive prices. Fuel, food and alcohol are also available at Stanage Bay, as well as a tyre repair business. Phone Von on 07 4937 3145 or find us on Facebook.
