How'd from Stanage Bay, Shoal Water and surrounding islands,

Well, our year is off to a good start with fishing and crabbing in the area. Weather-wise it hasn't been the kindest but we try to make the most of it.

Out on the reefs the fish are making a showing, with coral trout and sweetlip taking the hooks. There have been some red emperor, cod, red jew and parrot caught as well, but most of the fish we've seen have been trout and lippers.- No complaints with the results anyway.

Back in the estuary, the jew hole is keeping most fishos smiling. We made our way out there for an hour a couple of days ago and pulled two on board.- Not the biggest but nice jew in my books.

Further up the sound, cod and fingermark are the most common catches. There also seems to be the odd salmon about, which is a bit odd for this time of year. We are seeing a few barra about in the sound, so give some thought to putting a few hours in when the season opens. Those hot stormy arvos are the time to try.

Crabs are on the increase with some real big crabs being weighed in. Just check, as there have been a few empty ones about as well.

The road in is still holding up. - A pot hole here and there but overall not to bad. We have had some rain - not much, but some. If the rain continues the fishing and crabbing will only get better, so give us a call and book in to visit this little lost paradise.

Yours in fishing and crabbing,
Tony & Von
