HOWDY ALL FISHERS FROM STANAGE BAY, SHOALWATER BAY, AND ALL OUR ISLANDS,

a.. THE ROAD INTO STANAGE IS SO SUPER GOOD NOW THE GRADING IS ALL OVER WITH, SO GOOD, THAT USERS ARE FOGETTING TO TRAVEL TO THE CONDITIONS - THIS MEANS SLOW DOWN, ITS STILL GRAVEL, THE BENDS AND CORNERS THEY STILL CAN BE A TRAP TO NEW COMERS. WE HAVE ALREADY HAD THE RESCUE CHOPPER AND AMBULANCE CALLED IN TO TAKE INJURED PEOPLE IN A ROLL OVER TO HOSPITAL, SO PLEASE, SLOW DOWN.

b.. THE CRABBING HAS BEEN GOOD, THERES NO OTHER WORD FOR IT. THE RAINFULL AND FLOODS LAST YEAR AND THE FOLLOWUP RAIN HAS KEPT OUR MONSTERS POTTING. REMEMBER THOUGH, PLEASE THROW BACK YOUR EMPTIES, THEY DONT TAKE LONG TO FILL UP WITH DELICIOUS WHITE MEAT. THREE WEEKS (UP HERE) FROM JELLY TO HARD. TO KNOW IF THE BUCK IS FULL FEEL UNDER THE CLAWS ON THE CARAPACE / BODY AND BESIDE THE FLAP WITH YOUR THUMB, IF THE SHELL IS HARD KEEP IT IF NOT THROW IT BACK AND WE NEVER TAKE FEMALES IN QLD, HOPEFULLY NEVER WILL.

c.. THE ESTUARY FISHING - THIRSTY SOUND HAS BEEN A BIT ON THE SLOW SIDE WITH THE HUGE 6.1+m TIDES, HOWEVER AT THE LOW AND THE HIGH TIDE WITH NO RUN HAPPENING SOME FISHERS HAVE BEEN ABLE TO FILL THEIR QUOTA. NICE CATCHES OF GRUNTER AND STILL THE ODD JEWFISH AND COD TO MAKE THE ICE BOX THEIR HOME.

d.. OFF THE ISLANDS AND IN BETWEEN THE ISLANDS BAG LIMITS HAVE BEEN REACHED WITH GRASSY SWEETLIP ( YEP OUR FAVOURITE EATING FISH UP THIS WAY) AND RED JEW. FOR THE LUCKY ONES THEY EVEN MANAGED TO PUT ON BOARD SOME NICE RED EMPEROR. I CANT WAIT
TIL OUR BIG TUB IS READY FOR THE REEF.

e.. THE CAMPERS - THE VISITORS - THE RUBBISH - AS YOU ALL MAY KNOW STANAGE IS A SMALL FISHING TOURIST COMERCIAL VILLIAGE, THE COMMUNITY ONLY HAS ONE ROAD IN AND OUT, ONE BOAT RAMP, ONE PUB / SERVO, ONE TACKLE SHOP AND THE COASTGUARD. THE CAMPING AREA IS MOWED BY THE LOCAL VOLUNTEERS, IN FACT EVERY THING DONE UP HERE IS BY LOCAL AGEING VOLUNTEERS US BUSINESS OPERATORS DONT SEEM TO HAVE ENOUGH HOURS IN THE DAY NOW TO HELP OUT..THOUGH WE TRY. THIS IS A NOTE OF S.O.S. COME ON VISITORS GIVE US A BREAK WITH YOUR RUBBISH..WE HAVE A FREE, 24HOUR OPEN, DUMP /REFUSE TIP SO STOP LEAVING YOUR CANS, BOTTLES (YEP BROKEN ONES TOO) AND FIRE TIN, USE THE TOILET SUPPLIED IN THE PARK, OR AT LEAST BURY YOUR FAECES AND PAPER.

WE ALL WALK THE BUSH TRACKS DAILY WITH OUR PETS, WE ALL USE RAIN WATER TANKS, WE HAVE BUSH TURKIES THAT LOVE TO SCRATCH THE DIRT AND THE FREQUENT OUR ROOFS THAT COLLECT THE RAIN WATER WE DRINK. YOU COME UP HERE TO ENJOY THE PLACE, DIDN'T YOU ? SO WHY DESTROY IT, OUR FRIENDLY HOSPITALITY AND OUR SO FAR FREEDOM FROM THE GOVERNMENT. CALL INTO STANAGE BAY MARINE & ACCOMODATION AT THE TACKLE SHOP IN THE BOAT YARD, SO I CAN GIVE YOU A FREE HINT - FACT SHEET ON STANAGE. OUR COASTGUARD RAISES MONEY COLLECTING THE EMPTY ALLUMINUM CANS THERE ARE BAGS SUPPLIED AT EACH RENTAL, THE COASTGUARD / BOATRAMP PARKING AREA AND AT THE DUMP, SO PLEASE WHEN YOU BRING UP YOU BEVERAGES THINK TWICE BEFORE BUYING GLASS FOR THE TRIP. UNTIL NEXT TIME KEEP THOSE LINES WET ON BENT RODS
