BlankHowdy all Fishers from Stanage Bay and Surrounding Islands
The Road: Yep its open and with caution - so try and be on it in daylight. There are a few pot holes, corrigation and washout drains, until the council does something about it, ring Rockhampton Council if you require more info. The Crabbing: Finally they are turned it on and yep mostly they are full, throw back the ones a bit soft and you wont be disappointed, they dont take long to fill up in the right conditions like up here now. The Estuary - Thirsty Sound / Broadsound - there has been some fantastic catches of Barra and King Salmon, using live mullet and the occassional live prawn, however the most common bait is the ol Richo Lure which is trolled even some of the lads are into using the soft plastics and doing reasonable, or so im told. The Reef n Islands n Reef - Apparently the weather should be ace on the weekend 15 to 20 knots east south east with the right amount of run in the tides...gotta have run to have fun...and the right wind to have a grin....thats true...ask any Stanage Local.

If you would like to keep the Coastguard and their Radios here please join our Thirsty Sound QF 24 Coastguard, for only $66 you are also entitiled to a 25km free tow - hopefully you will never need it. Stanage Bay Accommodation, Bait n Tackle Shop is fully stocked, (Stanage Bay Marine & Accommodation) with Aus. IQF Pillies and Block Pillies, Squid, Prawns, Cuttle Fish, Mullet, Yorkies, Roo, Beach Worms and Berley. I now have a good range of Platypus Line and Braid along with Schnieder Line and Braid to suit any fussy fisher, plenty of get out of trouble tackle and all types of trailer and Marine gear....cant see it just ask...we dont bite...not hard anyway....If you want it and we dont have it - we can get it usually cheaper than other shops (orders come in twice a week). Keep us all here to be helpful to you and shop Locally and pick the brains of a local - dare you.
until next time,
just go fishing
cheers,
von
