How'd from Stanage Bay, Shoal Water & Surrounding Islands,
Good weather - it’s about time. We have had some top fishing weather over the past week. Predictions of 10-15kts, and turning out to be better, have been very welcome. Von and myself headed out on two occasions, having the boys from Incredible Charters in Brisbane on board for a day. Perfect weather, so off to the Percy Isles, and some nice reds in the ice box. The Incredible Charter boys will have some heavier tackle next time they visit, I would think.

For people into sports fishing, we spotted heaps of working schools and some very high flying Spanish mackerel. Some of the schools were working so hard we could hear them before we spotted them. Unreal to watch.

Back at the ramp most boats returned with real quality catches of all our reef species. A couple of big ones that got away were the only complaints. By the way, Von lost a big red, but you get that.

In the estuary, things have been a little on the quieter side, as most people are out reef fishing. Those who ventured up the sound found fish from parrot through to big summer whiting. Not a lot of people fish for bread and butter species like whiting and flathead up this way but we sure do catch some in the pots, so they must be plentiful. Mud crabs have been out and about. Have a look at the photos - they have been quality crabs.

Well the road in is okay with a few pot holes here and there. Slow down for some of the cattle grids, but that’s about all.

Until next week
Yours in fishing & crabbing
Tony & Von
