Report 25/07/14

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Jul 25, 2014 4:32 pm

Howdy loyal Stanage Bay fishers and crabbers from Stanage Bay Marine & Accommodation.

The past couple of weeks have seen our road in being graded, rolled, engineered with new road base and graded again. The Livingstone Council workers have done a hell of a job, which is great.

The Thirsty Sound / our Estuary once again has turned on the the salmon, the huge winter bream, cod and a few straggler huge, full mud crabs. Even an albino muddy was caught. If you have the time and patience you will still enjoy the sound from both small and large vessels.

On the Reef and off the Islands and Headlands

The Mackerel have still been playing out there, and so too the whales. The weather has been crazy; good in the morning one day and rough the next. The guys that have been venturing out have been to new spots as they haven't been able to get to their normal spots, however the Oasis boys, Starkie and crew have still been enjoying catching nice fish, including trout, emperor, sweeties (grassies) and nannygai. Hopefully the weather will turn it on for this weekend for them and they'll fill their bag limits of most species. The Villa lads, Mick and mates, are still enjoying themselves on and off the water as well.

Oops
There have been a few mishaps here of late. One lad tied his leaking boat up at the ramp long enough to sink and let his catch of muddies swim away, but thumbs up to the fellas who re-caught them already tied. Then the Oasis Crew, who are very well organised in most respects, somehow forgot their trailer maintenance. Oops. But with a welder, the correct parts and a bit of time, all was 100% again... sweet.

Finally, just letting you know that I now sell firewood (as well as bait, ice, tackle, accommodation, camping gear and books).

Cheers til next time
