How'd From Stanage Bay, Shoal Water and surrounding islands,
The school holiday period was great at the bay this year. We had a mixed bag of weather, with some glassed out calm days for the reef to some windy days restricting fishos to the sound. On the calm days fishing was spot on for the reef. Large catches of red jew, sweetlip, red emperor, snapper, parrot, trout and mackerel all came in. Von and I, along with her family, and 84 year old mum, went for a day out on the reef only to have to stop fishing before lunch as we caught our bag limits straight up. Never too old to go out fishing I say. Good on ya. Most of the catch was red jew but some very large sweetlip and red emperor made some great viewing in the ice box. The boys chasing mackerel have been anchoring their feet to the deck. Some real monsters have been on the chew.

We also had the crew from Channel 7's Great South East show up here doing a story through the week. We did a little bit of crabbing and reef fishing, so keep an eye out for it on the box. I believe it may be around the 16th September but we will keep you posted. They are a great bunch of people and we enjoyed showing them around. Hope they enjoyed their stay. That camera can sure make your tongue not move the way it should.

Back in the sound, salmon, cod, fingermark, bream and whiting have been the main catch. Plenty of sharks have been bending rods as well. Mud crabs have been a bit hit and miss but those who put the effort in are still taking home a feed.

The road in is good with some road works taking place. If you are after a holiday and some great fishing we have some vacancies in November. November is a great month for our estuary fishing and if the weather is kind reef fishing as well. Give us a call if you are interested.

Until next week
Yours in fishing and crabbing
Tony & Von
