• The freshwater sections above the weirs in the Ross River are starting to produce some nice barramundi on soft plastics and surface lures like Tango Dancers
• If you like a little sport then there are plenty of tarpon in Ross Creek at the moment - great fun on light gear.

• The Hinchinbrook Channel has been producing some good grunter up to 65cm. There has also been reports of some good mud crab catches from this area, however the ratio of full to empty crabs is around 1:1.
• The Haughton River has really started to fire lately with some exceptional barra being taken on deep diving lures and large live prawns.

• Last weekend before the strong winds moved in and spoiled the party there were good catches reported of quality coral trout around John Brewer Reef from both the anglers and spearos.
• Loadstone Reef also fished very well with a number of boats reporting to have bagged out on red throat emperor.
• There is still plenty of large Spanish mackerel being caught around Cape Cleveland and Salamander Reef on large wolf herring.
• The Bowling Green marlin grounds are still holding bait and the small black marlin are still there as a result.
• There were also some exceptional catches of red emperor recently, with live yakkas working a treat on the larger specimens.

• Both the Haughton and Morrissey should produce some good barra this weekend. Find a nice snag and soak a few large prawns or mullet. The lows are around a metre so there should still be a bit of water in many of the major gutters so try throwing shallow diving lures into these areas either side of the tide.

Play Safe
