Report Thursday 21 Jun 07

Post by Brad » Thu Jun 21, 2007 1:07 pm

There is not much to report this week due to the rain and wind. But their has been a report of small barra at the Strand Jetty and Strand rock walls, they have been found in the schools of jelly prawns. ( the aeroplane type) Please watch the size limit. (58cm)

Despite the drop in temperature and recently the rain their has been some fair reports for the guys fishing the creeks. The creeks in and around the Burdekin have been producing some quality Blue salmon, Yellow Fin and Pikey Bream. (M orrisey’s) Phillips Landing has been producing some ripper Duskey Flathead, Bream and Whiting, with the boss (Danny) catching a good feed from their.

Sandy Fly Ck has some good whiting at the moment, most of these fish are real elbow slappers in the 30-35cm bracket. Best baits has been yabbies and peeled prawns. Speaking of prawns, if you are after a feed the best places to try are the Bohle and Haughton River systems as they have been thick and it will get a bit better with the rain that we have been having. For those who want to travel further a field, Hinchinbrook has quite a few prawns as well, with the flats north of Haycock Island the best.

Barra reports have been very quite due to the weather. Although Myself and 2 mate’s worked very hard for 3 small barra at Hinchinbrook on Sunday. The Boss (danny) is on holidays this week. He is fishing down the Burdikn area so if you see him say G’day and throw rocks at him. But don’t hurt him.

No report this week due to weather.

At this stage the weather gods are not shinning on us so I think it is likely to be a weekend for rod and reel maintenance or chasing s good feed of prawns in the creeks and river systems. If u can brave the rain.
