Hope you all had a great time celebrating the New Year. It’s that time again when many of us are making a few resolutions. My new year’s resolution this year is to spend more time with the kids, fishing.

Grunter, grunter and more grunter - that’s what most reports suggest. Cape Cleveland and many of the creeks between Townsville and Ayr, including Crocy, Alligator and Haughton, are all producing good quality fish. Mullet slabs have been accounting for many of the better quality grunter. However, make sure the mullet you are using are as fresh as possible, as mullet is one of those baits that really needs to be in good condition to work its best.
There are also still a few prawns and crabs around. Most of the reports suggest that the crabs are more concentrated towards the mouths of most of the creeks and rivers.
