WEEKEND REPORT
It’s becoming hard to get the tides, blue skies and winds all lining up lately but no wind is at least one thing we have until at lease later in the weekend.
The tides are very big this weekend so location is the key. The early morning tides this weekend look ideal for chasing a few barra around the rocky points just inside Cape Cleveland and Upstart to the South and don’t forget Maggie and Shelly beach. The barra reports have really picked up recently around Townsville and further to the south. Reports of barra in the Hinchinbrook have been a little hit and miss hopefully things will improve up that way over the next few months. With the rain around the crabs and prawns should start to improve in quality and numbers so it will definitely be worth throwing in a few pots this weekend.

The creeks running into Cleveland bay have been producing some nice catches of barra in recent weeks. There also seems to be plenty of smallish grunter in the creeks at the moment so it may pay to make sure you know the difference between the two species. They have difference size limits with the Barred/Spotted Grunter size limit of 40cm and the Silver/Small Spotted Grunter with a size limit of 30cm. With all the rain around there hasn't been much to talk about in regards to offshore fishing apart from a few reports of some nice fingermark being caught in Halifax Bay on soft plastic vibes during the neap tides last weekend.

INFO BOARD - The Burdekin Barra Rush is on the weekend of 12th and 13th of April for more information pick up a flyer in our store or contact Mike on 0400 696 386.
