Happy Christmas hope everyone has a happy and safe break and hope you land plenty of fish.

Monday 21st 8:30am to 7pm
Tuesday 22nd 8:30am to 7pm
Wednesday 23rd 8:30am to 7pm
Thursday 24th 8:30am to 5:30pm
Christmas 25th CLOSED
Boxing Day 26th 9am to 5pm

Its really starting to heat up and with the school holidays in full swing there is sure to be plenty of opportunities over the holidays to get out on the water with the family and catch a few nice fish. Just make sure you cover up with a long sleeve fishing shirt (Tackle World Fishing Shirts are on sale now) plenty of sun screen and a hat. Talking hats a great product out now is the Cap Hat. Made from UPF 45 material it is an excellent sun protection device that simply slips over your existing cap to increase sun protection. For an evaporative cooling effect in hot conditions, just dip it in water prior to use. If it’s windy, you can close the Velcro tabs for complete protection.
It looks like the winds might get up around the 15 to 20knots this weekend so it might be best to still to the creeks and rivers if you are looking to wet a line. From all reports there has been some nice salmon around lately with fresh prawns and mullet slabs ideal baits for chasing this fighting machines. When it comes to lures any of the soft vibes such as the Pulse lures are great options for all manner of species including both blue and threadfin salmon. The mouths of the creeks are the likely spots to encounter these fish.

If we get any rain over the next week or so make sure you have the crab pots ready as this will be all that is needed to flush a few of those tasty crustaceans out of their holes and hopefully into your crab pots.

When the winds drop off there should be plenty of opportunities to catch a few nice fish in and around the bay with recent reports of very nice bar-cheek trout around the 4kg make being caught around the rocky islands in Halifax bay and around the various patches just off Maggie. There has also been some very good nannygai (not the usual ones just undersize you get throughout the bay) being caught closer in than usual which is great news. These areas are also holding good fingermark also with those jigging small 60 to 80g metal jigs with the Dogtooth Ika Jig out performing most. These areas also lend themselves to the vibe style lures with the Koolabung soft vibes and heavier metal Strada vibes perfect for this type of fishing.
