Report 15/4/16

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Apr 15, 2016 4:55 pm

It looks like the weekend is going to be windy again with the best chance at this stage of getting out around Maggie being early Sunday morning otherwise it looks like another weekend to hit the creeks and rivers.

If the winds do allow there has been heaps of squid around the Islands lately with reports of good numbers being caught on squid jigs. Try putting your squid jig on a dropper rig and getting it down deep over any areas holding weed and with a very slow retrieve you should see some nice squid come on-board. Sent back as the perfect live bait or cooked up for the dinner table squid are great either way.

In the creeks and rivers the reports of quality grunter have continued with fresh prawns, herring or mullet fillets all working well. There are also some nice fingermark and Barra still willing to take live baits and lures working the snags and drains.

Don't for get the crab pots the rain might get the crabs moving again.
