Report 15/1/17

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Jan 20, 2017 11:13 am

Hi everyone, hope there is plenty of great weather this year to get out on the water and catch that fish of a life time. It is good to see a little bit of rain here’s hoping for a lot more in coming weeks.

From all reports there has been a few crabs around. With the massive tides over the last week the flats are at the mouths of the creeks are the only real option that is if you still want to find your pots in the same place you put them.

If you don't feel like fighting the tide the weirs have been going off lately with plenty of Barra willing to take larger paddle tail soft plastics or surface lures during the twilight hours. Remember if you are fishing the weirs you must have a stocked impoundment permit as Barra are off limits outside of the areas covered under the permit. It is important to note that fishing for Barra on the saltwater side of Aplines Weir is not covered by the permit and currently illegal until the Barra closure finishes midday on 1st Feb.
