Report 3/11/17

Post by Nicole Penfold » Fri Nov 17, 2017 4:39 pm

It was a good end to the Barra season with plenty of nice barra around over the last few weeks. With the Barra closure starting yesterday at mid-day most of the attention with shift to other species over the next three months.

From all reports there has been plenty of nice coral trout and nannygai on the shoals and with the winds around the 10 knot mark of late there might be an opportunity to get out over the weekend. It is a positive that there doesn’t seem to be any northerly or westerly winds forecast over the next few days which is always a good thing when it comes to fishing offshore.
The lead up to the full moon is also a great time to chase grunter in the Bay so I would expect there to be some good fish caught over the weekend. In the creeks and rivers there are a lot of crabs but most are either undersize and what is over tends to be a bit hit and miss in terms of how full they are.
