We’ve had a windy week behind us, but at least it has cooled it down a little, the creeks have been firing with plenty of solid mangrove jacks and grunter, both taking baits and well-presented soft plastics.

When bait fishing for species like mangrove jacks, it’s a good idea to be using braided lines as it’s really important to be able to keep that fish turned once it takes your bait before heading back deep into the structure. There have been some really good numbers of grunters around the mouths of most of the local sandy creeks, focusing your time around the drop offs in the sandbars and where the bait is holding will pay off as the grunter will move through during the tidal run. A couple of tips for you to enjoy your weekend out on the water with a few nice fish hopefully.
